Before you send money to a garment factory in China, check ten things. This is for brand owners picking a factory for real custom orders - not stock buyers. Ten checks, written evidence, easy comparison.
Why the cheapest quote can be the most expensive
A quotation tells you the price, not whether the factory can deliver. Most first-order disasters come from things nobody checked: hidden subcontracting, no inspection during sewing, trims from the cheapest stall. You find out at bulk inspection - after paying. One video walk-through and a few pointed questions catch most of this early.
The ten checks
1. Do they make your product? We cover men's and women's apparel, wovens and activewear.
2. Who does what? Fabric, patterns, samples, sewing, finishing, packing - one roof means one responsible party.
3. Real sample photos in your category. No catalogue renders.
4. Sample lead time in writing. Ours: 3-7 days from artwork or a physical sample.
5. Where inspection happens - and we accept third-party inspection. Hesitation here is an answer.
6. Your labels and packaging done in-house?
7. Fabric, color, washing, printing, embroidery - can they change things?
8. Small trial orders welcome? Ours are.
9. Straight answers now, or vague excuses later.
10. Factory visit? Come to Shenzhen - we welcome it.
The cost of skipping
